Mission Trails Pipeline Tunnel and Vent Demolition

The project consists of a 92-inch diameter, 5,000-foot pipeline tunnel from north of Elliot Vent Number 1 to south of Elliot Vent Number 4, and appurtenant facilities for the untreated water system. The Mission Trails Pipeline Tunnel will relieve hydraulic constraints along the Second Aqueduct located North of Mission Gorge and will result in eliminating up to ten Elliot Vents through Mission Trails Regional Park.

East County Regional Treated Water Improvements Program - Otay Flow Control Facility

The project will expand the capacity of the existing Otay 14 Flow Control Facility from 8 mgd to 16 mgd. The facility is comprised of a partially below grade structure with inlet and outlet piping. The address of the facility is 290 South. Third Street, El Cajon, CA 92019. This expansion will require upsizing about 75’ of 16” piping to 20”. Several mechanical equipment/appurtenances will require replacement including isolation, control, and air valves, venturi flowmeter, valve electric actuator, and minor instrumentation. The existing facility will be subject to civil, mechanical and electrical work. Minor structural modifications to the building will also be required. Construction is expected to commence in October 2008 and be completed by August 2009.

The project consists of a 12 million gallon buried concrete tank and appurtenant facilities for the untreated water system. There will be two 6MG basins with a hopper type bottom. A small building will provide access, ventilation and instrumentation.

Remote Monitoring for Cathodic Protection Facilities

The remote monitoring system for the Water Authority’s Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) and Galvanic Anode Cathodic Protection (GACP) facilities will allow a single person to monitor the cathodic protection on the Water Authority’s pipelines remotely by accessing a computer. This system shall have the following capabilities: 1. Continuously monitor the operation of the ICCP and GACP systems, allowing for immediate response to equipment failure and vandalism; 2. Cycle the ICCP and GACP systems to properly survey the level of corrosion protection on a pipeline B. Remote Monitoring System Requirements: The remote monitoring system (RMS) requirements include installation of specialized hardware, software, data transmission capabilities, and Internet website services. The RMS installations have different requirements for various locations.
